About Red Hobby Grading

Red Hobby Grading is a Singapore-based trading card grading service built with one simple goal: to make grading easy for collectors.

We are part of the Red Hobby family, which includes Red Hobby Games, a collector-focused trading card business serving our local and overseas collectors and players through retail, events, and card-related services.

Being part of this family means we work closely with collectors at every stage of the hobby — from buying and storing cards, to evaluating whether a card is worth grading.

Our Origin

Red Hobby Grading was not built in isolation.

It grew naturally from our years of conversations with collectors at Red Hobby Games, where common questions came up repeatedly:

  • Is this card worth grading?
  • What does grading actually look at?
  • How do I avoid wasting money on submissions?

Grading often feels complex and intimidating, especially without guidance. Red Hobby Grading exists to reduce that friction, using the same collecting made easy approach that defines Red Hobby Games.

How Do We Make Grading Easy?

We believe grading becomes easier when collectors understand their cards.

That's why we take a collector-first approach:

  • We encourage questions
  • We review cards together
  • We explain what we see before asking collectors to commit

Our role is not just to assign an assessment, but to help collectors make informed decisions.

Free Pre-Grading Assessments

To help collectors decide with confidence, we offer free pre-grading assessments.

During a pre-grading assessment, we:

  • Review the card together with the collector
  • Explain visible strengths and potential concerns
  • Walk through how grading decisions are formed
  • Discuss whether PSA grading may make sense

Pre-grading assessments are informational only. They are not guarantees, predictions, or commitments to submit. Collectors are free to proceed or not after the review.

The Four Dimensions We Explain

When reviewing cards, we focus on four commonly understood grading dimensions and explain them clearly:

Centering

How the image is aligned relative to the card's borders, front and back.

Corners

Signs of rounding, whitening, silvering, or wear that affect sharpness.

Edges

Chipping, rough cuts, or edge wear from handling or manufacturing.

Surface

Scratches, print lines, dents, stains, or surface defects identified under proper lighting and magnification.

Grades reflect the overall condition profile, not isolated strengths.

We apply a conservative approach when forming grading opinions.

From Review to Grading

If a collector chooses to proceed after a pre-grading assessment:

  • Cards are logged and tracked
  • Handling is minimized
  • Protective materials are used throughout

We do not guarantee grade outcomes. We focus on consistency between what is explained and what is graded.
